This month we have you and your thoughts in the frame!
Sometimes you want a quick and simple card that still looks like you took time and effort over it.
These Nellen Senllen frame dies help you make beautiful cards to do just that.
Choose from 3 Nellie frames in floral or 1 fun, modern cat die (that gives you 2 cards for 1 die cuts).

Zoom Class

Want to step your frame cards up a notch?
In class this month, we'll be doing these tunnel cards.
Beginner one level version that look a treat using our feature Nellie's frames.
A great display card that flattens for the post!

Backgrounds – Brayer

Materials

  • Base Card (21 x 14.5cm)
  • Matching or Contrasting Card (9.5 x 13.5cm)
  • White Card (8.5 x 12.5cm)
  • Pigment inkpad
  • Brayer or rubber roller
  • Embellishments:
  • Stamps and Die Shapes for decoration
  • Sentiment/ Greeting Stamps
  • Double sided tape and glue for attaching.

  1. Open inkpad and push the slider to move the individual ink pads together
  2. With the brayer/rubber roller edge aligned to the edge of the inkpad roll across inkpad and start again from the beginning so that all the roller is covered (do not roll back and forth).
  3. Roll the brayer along the edge of the white card and without lifting roll back and forth until ink is transferred to the card. This will give the card a striped effect
  4. Re-ink the roller in the same place and repeat.
  5. When you have the amount of colour you wish, reink in the same place and repeat across the next section of card, until the card is covered.
  6. Allow to dry. If stamping directly onto the pigment ink, use a heat tool to dry.
  7. Assemble card layers.
  8. Stamp and die cut your embellishments and place on the card.
  9. Sentiment - Ink your stamp well with Stazon black ink and stamp on your card.
  10. Clean stamp immediately with Stazon cleaner

Inkpad storage:

Use the slider to re-open the ink pads so they are no longer touching for storage.

Make sure you store your inkpads upside down, so the ink stays in the pad and not at the bottom of it.

We can't stop playing with this month's card kit! So many choices.

Now we're onto the cupcakes.

We hate waste!  So we just couldn't resist doing something with those inner pieces from the Mini cupcake die cutout - they look just like a cake on their own.  If you are careful when removing the die from your cutting machine, the pieces all stay in the die.
We used a scrap cutout of the main cupcake as a mask and adhered it to our card with temporary adhesive.
We then used our Zig Glue Pen to dot glue on the back of each inner pieces and inlayed them through the mask before removing it to leave the perfect 'cupcake' you see on the second card!  Just love that new Matt Bronze Foil Card.

Inlay Technique

Using the same method but not removing the mask - we also cut the cupcake out in 2 colours and inlayed the purple inner pieces into the white cupcake for this card!  Our simple background was made using the mini cupcake stamp just stamped all over the card with Memento ink in a colour almost the same as the card. The Memento Dew Drop sets are great value.
